Belgian restaurants in Washington D.C. will host a week of events in honor of Belgium, beginning July 15 and culminating with a celebration of National Belgium Day on Sunday, July 21st. National Belgium Day is a celebration of the country’s independence from Holland. This year’s Belgian National Day takes on particular significance because that is also the inauguration of King Philippe I, replacing King Albert II who recently abdicated his throne.
If you’re in Washington, D.C. next week, it will be a good time to join the celebrations. Here is a calendar of events for the week.
